Lord Ganesha God (गणेश जी भगवान) : Ganesha is the first God to be venerated in any spiritual observance. His stories and legends are well known to devotees in Hindu tradition.
Lord Ganesha is considered to be the greatest among all Hindu Gods and Goddesses. He earned the right of being worshipped before and other Hindu Gods and Goddesses by showing deep respect for his parents namely Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. His act of encircling his parents namely Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati demonstrated that for a child, his parents are the only world.
He is supposed to be Leader of God-groups which has made him earn the name of “leader of groups (Ganapati)”. He is also known as Vinayaka or the one who removes all obstacles from the path of righteous pursuits and journeys. This has made him the God to be revered first before any holy worship or Puja.
All yajnas and spiritual undertakings are performed after Lord Ganesha’s remembrance. He is venerated by all the Gods.
Once upon a time, all the gods got into argument that who is the greatest god among all the gods. To get an answer all the gods approached to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu gave the following task to all the lords:
“The one who encircles the world first shall be the greatest of all almighty”
All the gods sat on their vehicle in a race to encircle the world first. lord Ganesha whose vehicle was a rat thought that it would be impossible for him to encircle the earth on this mouse. Lord Ganesha who has intelligent sat on his mouse and encircled his parents. Since then lord Ganesha is considered to be the greatest of all.
